Joseph I. Rosenbaum, President & CEO

Joseph I. Rosenbaum is the founder and president of Madison Exchange, LLC and all its affiliated companies—including Madison Commercial Real Estate Services, an umbrella organization of which Madison Exchange is a key component. As a real estate investor himself, Mr. Rosenbaum was quick to recognize the opportunities afforded by IRC §1031. And, he has been at the forefront of the effort to educate the business community about the exchange process.

Mr. Rosenbaum founded Madison Title Agency, another Madison Commercial Real Estate Services affiliate, in 1998. At that time the company offered only title insurance and title-related services. The company initially offered exchange services as an added service for its title clients. But, Mr. Rosenbaum soon realized that the exchange business was significant enough to stand on its own. Thus he established Madison Exchange LLC in 2000.

Mr. Rosenbaum is also the president of Diversified Capital, LLC, a real estate holding company he founded in 1995. Diversified Capital owns and manages numerous commercial and residential properties in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Connecticut and Texas.

Elliot S. Zaks, Executive Vice President

Elliot S. Zaks is responsible for setting the overall business direction for Madison Exchange, LLC. Mr. Zaks also serves as the Director of Operations for Madison Title Agency, LLC and its affiliates. Before his association with Madison, Mr. Zaks was an independent real estate investor of note in the tri-state area. In that capacity, he met Mr. Rosenbaum and the two decided to join forces. Together, they created Madison Title Agency, LLC and later Madison Exchange LLC and other affiliates.

Mr. Zaks is also the director of The Title Training Institute located in Lakewood, New Jersey. The Institute offers both pre-licensing and continued education courses within the title field.

Lee David Medinets, Senior Counsel

Lee David Medinets, Esq. is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Santa Clara School of Law. Mr. Medinets has an extensive legal background in real estate, §1031 exchanges, corporations, contracts, leasing, litigation, mediation, municipal land use, insurance, legal research and drafting acquired over more than 25 years in private legal practice.  

Mr. Medinets helped to establish and served as outside counsel to Madison Exchange, LLC and its affiliated companies before joining the company full-time in 2003. He was among the first in the nation to achieve the Certified Exchange Specialist® designation. A frequent writer and speaker on §1031 exchanges, Mr. Medinets is also a noted contributor to the New York Law Journal. He also serves as General Counsel for Madison Title Agency, LLC and its affiliated companies.

Daniel Kasten, Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Kasten is the Chief Financial Officer of Madison Commercial Real Estate Services companies.

Esther Silberberg, Director of Operations

Esther Silberberg, a Certified Exchange Specialist®,is the driving force behind Madison Exchange, LLC. She oversees the day-to-day operation of the company and supervises the staff-exchange officers, sales force and in-house attorneys. Ms. Silberberg has taken Madison Exchange from a small, upstart company to the multimillion dollar operation it is today.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Silberberg was chief administrator for a local real estate company. From there she became involved in the title industry. While working on the title side of the business, she recognized the opportunity that §1031 offered her commercial clients and decided to focus exclusively on the §1031 business-a business that has thrived under her direction.

David C. Steinmetz, Esq.

David C. Steinmetz, Esq. serves as Counsel for Madison Exchange, Madison Title Agency (including all its affiliated companies) and Diversified Capital Management. In this capacity, he advises management and clients alike on a wide range of legal issues including §1031 exchanges, commercial leases, contracts, corporate law, insurance compliance, title clearance, and general litigation. Before joining Madison, Mr. Steinmetz clerked at Bernstein, Liebhard and Lifschitz, LLP, one of the top plaintiff firms in the country.

Mr. Steinmetz earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at New York’s Touro College, where he became a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He received his Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law. Mr. Steinmetz is a member of the Bar in both New Jersey and New York.
